The Seneca Public Works Department covers all aspects of the infrastructure required to maintain the City of Seneca. City Superintendent, Brian Rusche, has worked in the Public Works department since 1993 serving as Superintendent for 20 of those years. Earning and maintaining certifications in water, waste water, aquatic center maintenance and chemicals, Brian also manages a well rounded department of 7 employees.
The department includes, Tim Heinen who holds certificates in Water and Sewer. Tim does water testing, daily checks of the water plan, well and lagoon, as well as water and sewer line locating for the Kansas One Call system. Tim Heinen holds a certificate in Aquatic Center Maintenance and Chemicals. He maintains the pool as well as working in the street department. Mike Hiltibrand primarily works in the rec department, providing all maintenance and preparation for the city fields for baseball, softball and soccer. Duane Burdiek primarily works in the street department operating the street sweeper and maintaining roadways. Bob Koelzer works in the rec and street departments on projects and maintenance. Bill Osterhaus primarily works in the park department as well as collecting trash, mowing and weedeating. Hunter Feldkamp and Cody Palmer are water operators in training and helps with the street department.
While each employee has a primary focus, all of Seneca’s Public Works employees assist in each department to keep employees to a minimum and increase efficiency.
