Holiday Happenings in Seneca

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their downtown Seneca debut on Friday, November 26. The Clauses will make their traditional entrance on Main Street at 6pm in a horse drawn carriage with Mr. Berkley as the Seneca Christmas lights are turned on for the first time. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be taken to City Hall where they will visit with children and take pictures from 6pm-7pm. Children will each be given a goody bag provided by Life Care Center of Seneca. Additionally, enjoy Living Holiday Window scenes as you stroll and shop through Downtown Seneca from 6pm-7pm. The Market Greenhouse & Garage will have a s’mores bar and luminary walk, and United Bank & Trust will have hot cocoa and popcorn. The Pony Express Museum will be serving Hot Dr. Peppers. Participating businesses will have live people in their windows acting out holiday scenes, these businesses include: Soul Provider, Buggy Days, Little Steps Dance & Gymnastics, Seneca Variety, Picture This, The Shoe Center, and Bergman Remodeling.

Saturday, November 27 we invite you to join us again in celebrating Small Business Saturday by supporting local businesses by “shopping small.” Stores will be open and presenting plenty of great options for holiday gifting and decorating!

Once again Seneca will be hosting the Seneca Roamin’ Gnomies – a group of five small gnomes happy to bring holiday cheer, wishes, and, most importantly, over $600 in Seneca Chamber Gift Certificates!

Beginning on Friday, November 26 the gnomes will appear for the first time, hiding in different businesses waiting to be found by a lucky shopper who will then receive a $25 gift certificate!

Gnomes will appear somewhere in 5 different businesses for 5 weeks, beginning November 26 and ending on Friday, December 24. There will be five gnomes to be found each week in the participating businesses. If you find a gnome all you have to do is bring it up to the counter of the store you are at and turn it in, that’s it! You’ll then be handed a $25 Seneca Chamber Gift Certificate to be used at the Chamber member of your liking.

The thing to remember is that these gnomes roam so be sure to check out all the businesses each week since you never know where they will be when or how many times.

The participating Seneca businesses are: Bomgaars, Buggy Days, CMT DeSigns, Durland Auto Parts, Heinen True Value, Henry’s Deli, Picture This, Schmitz’s Deli, Seneca Florist, Seneca Variety, Stallbaumer Lumber, Soul Provider, Suther’s Building Supply, The Market Greenhouse, and The Shoe Center.

Don’t forget to sign up for the “Light Up Seneca” contest and help spread holiday cheer! Those wishing to participate should contact the Seneca Area Chamber to sign up by December 3rd, there is no fee to sign up. Voting will take place December 6th – 23rd and winners will be announced on Christmas Eve. Additionally, all those who submit a ballot for the people’s choice award will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Chamber gift certificate.
